HOTEL INDIGO
ZHUHAI XIANGZHOU
A harmonious blend of East and West, sharing joy with the neighborhood.

The project is located in Xiangzhou, Zhuhai. The overall hotel design is deeply rooted in Zhuhai's century-old "Xiangshan Culture." By drawing upon the East-meets-West heritage of Tangjiawan Town as a prominent hometown for overseas Chinese, it perfectly blends Lingnan charm, Southeast Asian Qilou flair, and coastal vitality. The spiritual core of the design originates from the humanistic aesthetics and ethos of "A harmonious blend of East and West, sharing joy with the neighborhood."

"A SECRET
TROPICAL GARDEN"
/ DROP-OFF AREA & LOBBY
& LOBBY LOUNGE /
In the hotel's drop-off area, red brick walls, bamboo shadows, and lush Southeast Asian greenery intertwine, resembling a secret tropical garden. Passing through the tranquil glass-brick rotunda and stepping into the lobby, cascading arcs cleverly replicate the classic Qilou arches of Tangjiawan. A reception desk shaped like a ping-pong table and a giant spherical installation pay tribute to Zhuhai-born athlete Rong Guotuan (a ping-pong world champion), vividly conveying the themes of "playfulness" and "shared joy."

The lobby lounge is primarily anchored in warm brown, ochre red, and off-white tones. Complemented by wood veneers, traditional Lingnan window lattices, and playful swing seats, the design creates a space with a relaxed and leisurely resort atmosphere.
A FEAST OF JOY
/ BAR & RESTAURANT /

In the bar area, rugged stone counters intertwine with delicate metal accents, where warm and cool tones strike a subtle balance through the interplay of light and shadow. Breaking away from conventional seating, the design ingeniously incorporates carousel-inspired elements, transforming the space into a sophisticated social playground for adults and dramatically setting a theatrical "neighborhood stage." Nearby, another seating group rests casually along the brick wall, fostering an intimate, home-like warmth reminiscent of neighbors gathering.

In the restaurant, the red brick textures of Tangjiawan courtyards, intricate attic latticework, and vintage patterned tiles weave the everyday nostalgia of the diaspora hometown and Nanyang flair into every detail. As natural light filters through, it casts rich, deeply textured interplays of light and shadow.

TERRACOTTA ELEGANCE
/ SUITES & GUESTROOM /
Inside the suites, the lounge area situated by the window echoes the theme of "shared joy" once more. Traditional Lingnan architectural elements are abstracted into various spatial details: the curves of classic wok-ear walls are reimagined as the headboard backdrop. Meanwhile, the minibar's red and blue gradients transition naturally through its metal frame; paired with Lingnan arch motifs, the design is filled with the crisp, dynamic tension of athletic elements.

The guest rooms carry forward this energetic mood. Upon stepping inside, the eye is immediately captured by the expansively applied, textured terracotta-red walls. The bathroom discards solid partitions, lightly connected instead by classic archways. The collision between the warmth of the terracotta red and the starkness of the black marble creates a contrast of warm and cold — resulting in an aesthetic that is restrained, retro, yet entirely modern.
