THE BUND
RESIDENCE
A spiritual echo of Shanghai lilong culture within a contemporary context.

Situated at the northern edge of the historic Bund, the project is more than a residence — it is a spiritual echo of Shanghai lilong culture within a contemporary context. The design distills the curvature of Shikumen arches, the tactile allure of antique grey bricks, and the interplay of lilong's light and shadow into an "invisible code" embedded within the space. This vision orchestrates a profound dialogue between modernity and tradition, ensuring that every corner exudes both the warmth of history and the sophistication of contemporary aesthetics.

A narrative of materials unfolds throughout the space: Dark timber retains the misty nourishment of Jiangnan, while pale stone mirrors the stoic resilience of the Bund's historic architecture, accented by the soft glow of a jade kitchen island.

In this open layout, these elements do not stand in isolation. Instead, they merge into a poetic tension — a perfect balance of warmth and cool, creating a residence of "Eastern sentiment and Western rhythm."
RESTRAINED ELEGANCE, RETURNING TO THE ESSENCE OF LIVING
/ BEDROOM /

The bedroom design at The Bund Residence is an aesthetic experiment regarding "boundaries" and "fusion." Eschewing the piling of superfluous decoration, we seek a more holistic unity.

The structure of the four-poster bed imbues the space with a gentle sense of ritual, while the light-colored horsehair wall covering shimmers delicately, evoking the river's surface at dawn. Dark wood door frames, inspired by the Eastern classical garden of "framing views,"  seamlessly connect with the warm textures of beige wood veneer collage, creating depth within intimacy.
